Neat takes part in the Social and Health Care Meeting Forum organized by Amade

Telemedicine can enable the integration of social and health areas. For Primary Care, social and healthcare coordination is an ethical duty.

Neat Group – Neat, a company specialized in social and health products and services, participated as a sponsor of the Social and Healthcare Meeting forum in the Community of Madrid, held last Tuesday, April 14 at the Ramón y Cajal Hospital in Madrid and organized by the Madrid Association for Dependency Care, AMADE, the Regional Ministry of Health and the Regional Ministry of Social Affairs.

The primary objective of this space was to share experiences, publicize achievements and put on the table objectives and actions for improvement in the social and health sectors that respond to the current patient profile. “The patient profile has changed from the decade of the 90s to date, now the patient is more informed, society has changed, and so has technology, there are more unique demands and on many occasions we cannot respond satisfactorily to health demands,” said Antonio Alemany, General Director of Primary Care. He also added that “the social and health areas have an ethical duty to understand each other”.

During this meeting, two round tables were presented with experiences of social and healthcare continuity, where the work being carried out between different hospitals and health centres with Homes for the Elderly in the Community of Madrid was presented.

Among the experiences shared at the first table, it is worth mentioning the presentation of the Madrid Health Service, which focused on telemedicine applied to the social and healthcare field. At this table it was made clear that ICTs are essential to achieve social and healthcare coordination and that the Madrid Health Service seeks to use telemedicine to enable this integration.

The second round table presented the different visions of primary care, specialized care, nursing home professionals and the manager’s vision, as well as the patient’s vision. During the debate, all the speakers came to the same point of convergence in recognizing that the social and health areas should meet each other mainly for the good of the patient.

The forum was inaugurated by Antonio Alemany, General Director of Primary Care; Mariano Alcaraz, General Director of Specialized Care; José Ramón Menéndez, General Director of the Elderly; Juan José Equiza, Managing Director of the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital and Javier Gómez, President of AMADE.

Also present was Ana Miquel Gómez, Coordinator of the Chronic Patient Care Strategy in the Community of Madrid. Assistant Manager of Planning and Quality of the Primary Care Management, who was in charge of giving a conference on the strategy applied to chronic patients in Madrid.
